1) Distillation to separate the oil in different fractions with different boiling points.





2) Extraction to separate liquid compounds i.e. separating aromatic from aliphatic compounds.





3 Gas permeation. This is a membrane technology to separate aliphatic gases with lower molecular mass i.e. methane, ethylene and acetylene because all this gases will be later differently processed in the refinery.What methods do people use to separate substances in oil refining places?
