What step in refining crude oil?

Produces hydrofluoric acid and why is it so toxic? What step in refining crude oil?
HF acid is not produced in refining, it is used as a catalyst in a reaction process to make a very high quality gasoline component.

It is toxic because it forms a cloud and gets blown at ground level, and it reacts with calcium. It causes very nasty burns, essentially disolving flesh and bone both. What step in refining crude oil?
Hydrofluoric acid is used in the alkylation of isobutane to form gasoline components. Hydrofluoric acid is extremely corrosive and steel equipment I believe has to be glass lined.
